CM Siddaramaiah in Mysuru for 3 days, may set stage for son’s Lok Sabha battle

BENGALURU:

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday set out for a three-day visit of his home district ahead of the launch of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme on August 30 in Mysuru.

On Monday, he chaired the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting at the zilla panchayat office, inaugurated a eye hospital and interacted with students of Manasa Gangotri.

On Tuesday he will participate in the 108th birth anniversary celebration of the previous Suttur Mutt seer Dr Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswami at Suttur Mutt and inaugurate a new supari manufacturing facility at the Kadakola industrial area. Later in the day, he will inaugurate the renovated burns ward at KR Hospital and hold a meeting with legislators from Chamarajanagar district. He will also visit the advocates’ association office.

On August 30, the CM will launch the Gruha Lakshmi scheme at an event to be held at the Maharaja College grounds. The same evening, he will return to Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, it is being speculated that Siddaramaiah may be strategising to gain control of the Mysuru-Kodagu parliamentary constituency ahead of the Lok Sabha polls next year by propping up his son Dr Yathindra who gave up his Varuna seat for the father. By launching the Gruha Lakshmi scheme in Mysuru, he may be also looking to garner votes from women for his son.

The launch of the scheme in Mysuru will also act as a show of strength while setting the stage for Yathindra’s parliamentary foray. He will also take the legislators from Mysuru district into confidence, it is being said.

Yathindra has already been appointed the head of the Ashraya committee and this will take him closer to the people. He had also indicated that he is ready for the Lok Sabha battle if the party high command agrees.
