BENGALURU:
Accusations of nepotism have been levelled against Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa after his personal secretary, Vishwanath P Hiremath, was given a Group A post recently.
Following the appointment in 2009 of five candidates, including Hiremath, as section officers, an objection was filed with the KAT. But despite the tribunal’s adverse order in 2017, the government neither filed an appeal in the High Court nor implemented KAT’s order.
Hiremath filed a contempt of court petition against Yediyurappa himself in the KAT in 2019. In the meantime, the state government has given him a Group A post.
In relation to the case, the state’s Advocate General has been accused of giving an opinion in favour of Hiremath which is against the roster point orders of the state government as well as Supreme Court verdicts.
