MYSURU:
As a precautionary measure to avoid the spread of Covid-19 virus, the District Administration has ordered the closure of Sri Chamundeshwari temple, the main deity of Wodeyar dynasty which ruled Mysore State, atop of the Chamundi hills.
Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri, in a release here on Monday, said that the temple will remain closed from October 14 to 18 and again from October 23 to November One.
During the inauguration of Dasara festivities atop the hills, on Oct 17 only officials and staff were allowed besides villagers of the Chamundi hills. No private vehicles allowed.
This decision was taken to avoid the spread of covid-19 which has been increasing in the city of Palaces. However, regular pooja will be performed to the deity by Archakas as usual. (Agency)
