Jindal Co. has assured additional 40 tonnes of medical oxygen for city: MP

Considering the shortage of oxygen for Covid treatment in Bengaluru, the Union government has promised to address the demand of the country’s tech capital.
Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya expressed his gratitude to Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal for assuring full support to Karnataka to meet its oxygen cylinder demand. Surya informed the media that he is in constant touch with Goyal over the requirement of oxygen cylinders for Bengaluru, and has received a positive response from the government.
Surya also revealed that he spoke to Sajjan Jindal, CMD of JSW, and requested him to supply additional oxygen for hospitals in Bengaluru.
With an exponential rise in the number of Covid-19 infections in Bengaluru and Karnataka, the demand for oxygen from hospitals has shot up. Surya told the media that JSW has assured supply of an additional 40 tonnes of medical oxygen for Bengaluru.
“The government is actively working on providing sufficient oxygen for hospitals and the continued recovery of Covid-19 patients in Bengaluru and Karnataka,” Surya said. “I thank Goyal for looking into our request for 7,500 oxygen cylinders for the city, and Jindal for assuring a continuous supply of medical oxygen for hospitals in Bengaluru.”
