Hyderabad/Bengaluru: A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court has dismissed a petition submitted by former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, who is currently serving a sentence for his involvement in the illegal iron ore mining case linked to the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC).
In his petition, Reddy requested ‘A’ class facilities at Chanchalguda Prison, where he is incarcerated, citing his status as a former minister and taxpayer under the provisions of the Jailers’ Act.
However, the court declined to entertain the request, effectively returning the petition. Legal sources indicate that Reddy will now need to seek recourse through the High Court.
On May 6, the special CBI court convicted Janardhana Reddy and three co-defendants in the OMC case, concluding a protracted legal battle that has lasted nearly 14 years.
