BENGALURU: Dr. K. Sudhakar, the BJP candidate for the Chikkaballapur parliamentary constituency tried to influence MCC nodal officer Munish Moudgil via WhatsApp regarding the return of Rs 4.8 crore seized by IT officials.
Dr. Sudhakar attempted to communicate with Moudgil through WhatsApp calls and messages, requesting the return of the funds. However, Moudgil did not approve the request.
The funds were discovered during a raid at the residence of Madawara Govindappa, where Rs 10 crore was found. Moudgil was informed of this discovery and instructed another officer to handle the situation. The raid was conducted by IRS and IT officials after verifying information, including GPS location.
During this time, Dr. Sudhakar personally contacted Moudgil via WhatsApp. This interaction was documented in the FIR.
The FIR states that on 25.4.2024 at 2:04 PM, Munish Moudgil received a WhatsApp call from the number 9845204040, identified as Mr. Sudhakar on WhatsApp. Additionally, Moudgil received three WhatsApp messages from the same number.
Dr. Sudhakar requested Maudgil’s assistance on WhatsApp, expressing gratitude in advance. Another officer, Anand Ratkal, also messaged Moudgil regarding the situation.
In light of these events, Nodal Officer Munish Maudgil attached screenshots of the WhatsApp messages and calls to the complaint. The mobile number 9845204040 mentioned in the FIR is registered under Dr. K. Sudhakar’s name.
According to the FIR, a case has been filed against Dr. K. Sudhakar under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the RP Act of 1951 for charges including undue influence, bribery, and attempted corruption.
IT officials raided Govindappa’s house in Nelamangala, where they discovered a significant amount of money. Govindappa, a former district president of the BJP, was targeted after suspicions arose regarding the presence of money in his residence. A team of 10 IT officials conducted the inspection.
During the raid, millions of rupees in cash and jewelry were uncovered. The counting of notes revealed that the IT officials had seized Rs 4 crore 80 lakh without proper documentation.
