Karnataka state and 7 of it cities also win Centre’s ‘Swachh’ laurels
BBMP top brass will receive award for Bengaluru on Nov 20 in Delhi
BENGALURU:
Karnataka state, as well as eight of its cities, including Bruhath Bengaluru, have won the prestigious ‘garbage-free’ tag from the Centre.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had invited applications under Swachh Survekshan 2021, Safai Mitra Suraksha Challenge, and Garbage-Free cities.
The nine awards for the state are:
1) Karnataka state
2) Bruhat Bengaluru
3) Hubballi-Dharwad
4) Mysuru
5) Mudhol
6) Hosadurga
7) Krishnarajanagara
8) Kumta
9) Piriyapatna
BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta alongwith Special Commissioner (SWM) Dr Harish Kumar K and Joint Commissioner (SWM) Sarfaraz Khan will receive the award for Bengaluru on Saturday, November 20, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Similarly, officials representing other awarded cities will be attending the event.
The results will be formally declared by President Ramnath Kovind at the awards ceremony in New Delhi.
