BENGALURU:

Bengaluru reported another spike of 17,550 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total caseload to 6.87 lakh, while 97 related fatalities pushed the toll to 6,002, the Health department said on Tuesday.

Karnataka also accounted for 31,830, cases with 180 deaths.

The day also saw 3,899 patients getting discharged after recovery in Bengaluru while Karnataka saw 10,793 discharges.

Cumulatively 14,00,775 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 14,807 deaths and 10,84,050 discharges,the Health department said in a bulletin.

Out of 3,01,899 active cases, Bengaluru has highest 2,06,223 active cases, while 2,063 are in Intensive Care Units.

While the positivity rate for the day stood at 18.71 per cent, the case fatality rate (CFR) was 0.56 per cent.

Among 180 deaths reported on Monday, 97 were from Bengaluru Urban, Ballari (18), Mysuru (9), Kalaburagi (7), Ramangara (6), five each in Dharwad, Hassan, followed by others.

Mysuru, with 2,042 cases was behind Bengaluru Urban, Tumakuru 1,196, Ballari 907, followed by others.
