BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta, MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao inspect work on parking lot near Freedom Park

BENGALURU:

BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta, along with MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao, on Tuesday inspected the ongoing multi-level car parking construction work near Freedom Park in Gandhinagar ward.

While work on the parking lot has been completed, work on the roof and installation of solar power is continuing on the upper floor (the designated place to conduct protests.) In addition, works including electrical installation, fire extinguisher, compound wall construction, entrance gate and pedestrian pavement will be completed soon, said Chief Engineer Lokesh. The Chief Commissioner said the parking lot must be made available for vehicle parking by the end of September.

‘Green’ look

Chief Engineer Lokesh said that the construction has been taken up at a cost of Rs 79.81 crore under the Nagarothana grant. Three basement floors can accommodate 556 cars and 445 two-wheelers. However, the work was delayed due to a massive rock on the site. The building has four lifts and 40 toilets. The parking lot will be surrounded by greenery in order to beautify the building.

Joint Commissioner (West zone) Shivaswamy, and Executive Engineer Fateh Ahmed were among the officials present.
