Bengaluru: A shocking incident has come to light from Bannerghatta Biological Park in Bengaluru, where a 13-year-old boy was injured in a leopard attack during a safari ride.
According to eyewitnesses, the boy, who was on a leopard safari with his parents, was suddenly scratched on his hand when a leopard followed the safari vehicle and lunged towards him. The wild cat’s claws tore through the boy’s flesh, leaving him badly injured.
Visuals from the park show the leopard leaping at the safari vehicle before clawing at the boy’s hand. The injured teenager was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. Doctors have confirmed that the injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
Officials from Bannerghatta Biological Park have launched an inquiry into how the leopard managed to get so close to the safari jeep and whether safety protocols were breached. “The boy is under treatment, and his condition is stable. A detailed safety review is being conducted,” a park official stated.
The incident has raised serious concerns about tourist safety during wildlife safaris in Bengaluru’s popular eco-tourism destination. While the exact reason for the leopard’s aggression is still unknown, authorities are expected to tighten monitoring and reinforce safety barriers on safari routes.
The Bannerghatta leopard attack is the latest reminder of the unpredictable nature of wildlife tourism and the urgent need for stricter precautionary measures.
