BBMP chief Gaurav Gupta also greenlights doorstep delivery services with Covid precautions, advises contactless delivery

BENGALURU:

In a major relief to residential apartment complexes in Bengaluru, BBMP has allowed gymnasiums and sports facilities to be utilised with all Covid protocols in place, but it has continued with its restrictions on swimming pools.

Furthermore, the civic agency has allowed doorstep delivery services in these complexes and has also allowed clubhouses/community halls/other common closed places to be used for private events/classes, on condition of maintaining strict Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta on Monday issued a revised circular within these relaxations but has alongside warned societies and apartment complexes to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

“In view of the existing Covid-19 situation in Bengaluru, it shall be noted that there is a gradual and steady decline in positivity and number of cases, with a 40-daily average cases less than 300, as of 30th September 2021… If any resident or his/her family members has undertaken interstate or international travel, the latest testing and quarantine guidelines as per the government of Karnataka and BBMP shall be applicable,” Gupta said in his revised guidelines.

‘Don’t misuse relaxations’

He further maintained that the gymnasiums and sports facilities may be utilised ensuring all Covid Appropriate Behaviour norms, and caution shall be observed that these places do not get converted into socialising or meeting points.

Gupta said swimming pools shall remain out of bounds till further instructions from the government of Karnataka.

His revised guidelines said clubhouse/community halls/ other common closed places shall be used for private events/classes while maintaining strict Covid Appropriate Behaviour, ensuring no more than 80% of capacity, or 400, whichever is lower. However, at any given point of time, such spaces shall not be used for exhibitions or socialising events or cultural programmes.

Doorstep delivery services may be resumed, with entry screening guidelines in place, along with all guidelines of Covid Appropriate Behaviour applicable to delivery personnel. As far as possible, contactless delivery options may be availed, he added.

It is expected that Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Management Committees in Apartment Complexes/ Housing Societies/Gated Communities extend complete cooperation to BBMP in effective containment and surveillance of Covid-19, Gupta noted in his circular.
