Bengaluru: Amid a spate of threat messages targeting foreign diplomatic establishments in the city, the Netherlands Consulate in Bengaluru has received a bomb threat email, triggering security concerns.
According to police sources, miscreants sent an email on January 29 to the Netherlands Consulate located in Ganganagar, RT Nagar, threatening to blow up the premises. The incident comes close on the heels of similar threat messages recently received by the Italian and Japanese consulates in the city.
Following the threat, Bhaskar Subrahmani, an official of the Netherlands Consulate, lodged a formal complaint at the RT Nagar Police Station. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the origin of the threatening email.
Security around the consulate has been reviewed, and cybercrime teams are examining the email trail as part of the probe. Officials said further details will emerge as the investigation progresses.
