Non-essential e-com sales remain barred

The notification comes a day after the government released a list of activities and services that will be functional from April 20 in parts of the country least affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

A brief order by Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said: “‘E-commerce companies (and) vehicles used by e-commerce operators will be allowed to ply with necessary permissions’ is excluded from the guidelines.”

Speaking to thebengalurulive, Prakash Pirgal, president of the Bangalore Wholsale Cloth Merchants Association, said, “We welcome the Central government decision to stop e-commerce for non-essential commodities till the lockdown ends.”
