BENGALURU:
The gargantuan 10,100-bed Covid Care Centre on Tumkur Road is woefully short of staff and infrastructure, according to opposition leader and former CM Siddaramaiah.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday after a visit to the CCC, Siddaramaiah said at least 2,000 health personnel are required to man the centre, which is slated to start functioning from Friday, but he saw none during his visit. Also, facilities like water supply, drainage and toilets were inadequate.
Siddaramaiah repeated his charge of corruption in procurement of items like cots and mattresses for the centre, and said he would submit ‘evidence’ on Thursday. “Tamil Nadu purchased ventilators for Rs 4.78 lakh each, whereas Karnataka purchased them for between Rs 15-18 lakh,” he pointed out.
It has been 5 months since #Covid19 was declared as pandemic in India. @CMofKarnataka had ample of time to prepare but nothing has evolved yet.

Covid treatment centre at BIEC should have been set up months earlier but it is yet to be completed.

The delay in setting up of #Covid19 centre in BIEC, inspite of our party’s suggestion in March, exposes inefficiency of @CMofKarnataka @BSYBJP‘s govt.

The centre is ill planned without adequate stress on sanitation.

BIEC #Covid19 centre needs 1800 doctors & paramedical staff. Govt is still in process of recruiting them. Also, there is still confusion over mode of procurement of beds & other accessories.

There will be further delay in starting the centre due to these unresolved issues.

.@CMofKarnataka is averse to suggestions from the opposition. @BJP4Karnataka does not even want to conduct session to discuss the issues concerning people. Unfortunately, common man is bearing the brunt of their arrogance.
