Restriction: Karnataka arrivals from Brazil and South Africa can leave airport only after testing negative
BENGALURU:
In a fresh advisory by the Karnataka government, it has been made mandatory for arrivals from the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East to provide a swab sample and leave the airport for further compliance as per the SoP.
Earlier, the Karnataka government had made it mandatory for arrivals from these three originating points to provide an RT-PCR negative report.
“Currently, based on the prevailing Covid situation and as recommended by the Covid- 19 State Technical Advisory Committee, passengers from the UK, Europe and the Middle East, on arrival at Kempegowda International Airport and other entry airports in Karnataka, shall provide the sample and leave the airport for further compliance as per the SoP,” the advisory issued by Jawaid Akhtar, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, reads.
The advisory further states: “However, passengers arriving from Brazil and South Africa shall continue to provide their samples at Kempegowda International Airport/other entry airports and wait for the results in the airport. On testing negative, they shall leave the airport.”
Strict telemonitoring
According to the advisory, further action shall be as per the existing SoP. Strict telemonitoring of these passengers should be ensured. The above protocol shall be periodically reviewed according to the Covid-19 scenario in the state.
