BELAGAVI/BENGALURU:
In a joint effort, the Assistant Commissioner, Sub-divisional Magistrate, and the Family Welfare Department conducted a raid on Yash Hospital in Belagavi.
The purpose of the raid was to investigate allegations of the hospital conducting gender determination tests on fetuses, which is a clear violation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act of 1994.

The raid took place on Thursday night following multiple complaints regarding the hospital’s involvement in gender determination tests at its Madhav Nagar location. Consequently, the officials took immediate action by sealing the ultrasound scanning machine and the scanning room. Furthermore, a notice was issued to the hospital, demanding a response within one week.
The raid was carried out by probationary IAS officer Shubham Shukla, Belagavi Assistant Commissioner Shravan Kumar, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Vishwanath M Bhovi, and health inspectors Manjunath Bisanalli and Halappa Wodeyar.
The action was taken following numerous complaints received by Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil against the hospital management for conducting gender determination tests on fetuses.
“I have ordered a thorough inspection of all ultrasound centers in the district,” stated Patil during an interview with thebengalurulive after the raid.
