Mumbai techie tests positive in Bengaluru

Bengaluru:

In a major development, a Mumbai-based 26-year-old male techie working in Bengaluru, who travelled from Greece, has tested positive for Covid-19 in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The department of health and family welfare has stated in its media bulletin that the patient has been admitted to a hospital and his condition is stable.

With this case, the number of Covid-19 patients in Karnataka has been increased to 5.

“All primary contacts of the Mumbai-based person have been traced and are asymptomatic. Home quarantine has been advised and is being followed up,” a spokesperson said.

In the other four positive cases, all the primary contacts are under surveillance and no symptomatic cases have been reported, he added.

The spokesperson said that the Mumbai-based person had arrived from Greece on March 6 at Mumbai Airport and then boarded the flight for Bengaluru on March 8. He visited his office on March 9. He came in contact with only four people and he works in an office which has a staff strength of 154. His entire family, including wife, father and mother are in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, chief secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar reviewed the preparedness of all districts through a video conference with deputy commissioners and district health officers.
