BENGALURU:
In a late development on Friday night, Sandalwood actress Ragini Dwivedi was taken into three days’ police custody by the Central Crime Branch.
Senior cops quizzed her in the CCB office in Chamarajpet. Later, she was taken to Bowring Hospital where her medical test was conducted. “As the court had granted police custody, we had to follow certain procedures and a medical examination had to be conducted,” said a top cop.
Earlier on Friday evening, Ragini Dwivedi was arrested by Central Crime Branch sleuths on a charge of alleged involvement in the drugs case. She is the third arrest in Bengaluru by the CCB sleuths.
Prior to her arrest, her close friend Ravishankar, who is a clerk in the Jayanagar RTO office, and Rahul Shetty, who is a close friend of another Sandalwood actress, Sanjana Galrani, were arrested.
Meanwhile, another person, Viren Khanna, who reportedly organises parties in Bengaluru where drugs are consumed, was arrested in Delhi. The police have obtained custody of Khanna for 4 days.
Early on Friday morning, CCB sleuths conducted a 3-hour search of Ragini’s two flats in Yelahanka and one flat in Indiranagar, after Ravishankar tipped them off about ganja and other drugs being consumed at parties in Bengaluru city, an officer said.
Sources said Ragini’s arrest came after her advocate filed an anticipatory bail application in the city’s court hall number 34, whose hearing has been postponed till September 7.
