In 39-year service, Air Marshal Singh is recipient of several gallantry awards

BENGALURU:

Air Marshal Manavendra Singh, AVSM, VrC, VSM, ADC, took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of Training Command on Saturday, September 25.

The Air Marshal was commissioned in the flying branch of IAF in December 1982 as a helicopter pilot. In a distinguished career spanning nearly 39 years, he has flown a wide variety of helicopter and trainer aircraft, and has over 6,600 hours of operational and instructional flying.

Air Marshal Singh has held numerous command and staff appointments. He was Station Commander of a frontline Air Force base. As Air Vice-Marshal, he was Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Joint Operations) at HQ Integrated Defence Staff, Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration at HQ Eastern Air Command, and Senior Air and Administrative Staff Officer at HQ Maintenance Command.

Alumnus of NDA

As Air Marshal, he served as Senior Air Staff Officer, Southern Air Command, and Director-General (Inspection & Safety) at Air Headquarters. Prior to taking over as AOC-in-C of Training Command, he was AOC-in-C, HQ Southern Air Command. Air Marshal Singh is an alumnus of National Defence Academy.

In recognition of his distinguished services, he was awarded the Vir Chakra in 1990, the Vishisht Seva Medal in 1999 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2013. He was appointed honorary ADC to the President of India on September 1, 2021.
