BENGALURU:
As per a survey conducted by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) to understand passenger perceptions of air travel amid the Covid-19 pandemic, 90% of the respondents considered air travel much safer than other modes. Around 87% also felt airports are safer compared to train and bus stations.
The survey is being held in five phases. During the three concluded phases, more than 3,500 passengers were covered using a random sampling methodology.
Around 25% of the respondents confirmed their intent to take a flight in the next month while 19% appeared to be undecided. However, the comfort levels associated with air travel progressively increased to 24% after the third phase of the survey.
Work-related travel was cited as the most important reason by 60%, while ‘personal’ was chosen by 30%.
“Based on the feedback, BIAL is refining the Standard Operating Procedures to boost the confidence of passengers who are uncomfortable about air travel,” said a BIAL spokesperson.
