BENGALURU:

After the arrests of 119 persons from  Padarayanapura on charges of assaulting health staff on Sunday,  the situation in the hotspot ward is totally under control.

Stricter rules now apply in the Bengaluru ward, and no one will be allowed to step out of their houses. The ward is being patrolled by armed police.

Speaking to the media, Bommai said, “The police have arrested 119 accused from Padarayanapura for allegedly assaulting medical staff in violation of the lockdown and sealdown.”

Asked whether action would  be taken against the accused under the National Security Act, the minister said provisions of the National Disaster Management Act and the Epidemic Act were being resorted to. He pointed out  that all hotspots in the Covid-19 containment zones were adhering to the rules.

Meanwhile, Prisons DGP Alok Mohan has ordered the 119 suspects to be shifted to Ramanagar District Jail from Parappana Agrahara. 177 prisoners in Ramanagar Jail will in turn be shifted to Bengaluru.

So far no positive cases have been recorded in Ramanagar district, which is a Green Zone. According to jail sources, the inmates of Ramanagar Jail are reluctant to move to Parappana Agrahara.
